    Before watching the video, I can comment that this is indeed the perfect travel tripod for me. This thing is friggin amazing. So fast to deploy, so versatile, impressive load capacity (especially compared to the Peak one at the same price point), super easy handling, and yet so lightweight and compact. Seriously, get one if you can afford one. If not, save for one. It is so worth it. Disclaimer: I don't work for Heipi, and I'm not on their payroll in any shape or form. That thing just convinced me with smart design, and impressive specs and features :)

    Interesting video - thanks. I bought a Mindshift Backlight 26L ages ago but didn't use it that much because it had more room for camera gear than I usually carried and a bit less room for other stuff than I'd ideally want, including a laptop room that's too small for my 16". After getting the Olympus 150-400 Pro it's become my favorite when carrying that lens. Also noticed that the tripod collar needs to be adjusted to an angle, and the same goes for the screw on the sun shade. I've been considering the 45L to get more room for hiking gear, but thought it was too big for carry on. Might have to reconsider. Ideally though I'd like to have my bag under the seat in front when on an airplane. The 45 is obviously too big for that, but have you used the 26L on airplane and managed to get it under the seat in front of you?

    • @EspenHelland
      @EspenHelland 4 дні тому

      I haven’t tried that, I usually put the 26L overhead and a smaller bag under the seat.

  • @lasticonoclast2960
    @lasticonoclast2960 5 днів тому

    I bought the 18L a few years ago after seeing your review, and used it recently for my trip to the Galapagos and Ecuador's cloud forest. It was perfectly sized for the OM1, EM1.2, 1.4TC, 8~25, 12~100 and 100~400 lenses, and fit under the airline seat. It was subjected to quite a bit of abuse, and I was very impressed with its durability. The ability to swap out lenses and cameras without the need to set down the bag was also invaluable as the ground was usually muddy and I needed to keep up with the tour group.

  • @marklaurendet1861
    @marklaurendet1861 5 днів тому

    Those mindshift bags look really good. I mainly use lowepro and crumpler as they are easier to grt in Australia One thing I wish all bag/pack inserts would have are better padded inserts with two strips of velcro at each end that formed a "Tee" so you had a join that does not peal off as quickly. When I see these really full packs with the typical thin dividers, if the bag gets put down a little harder or shuffled in the back of the car you can hear the gear clunk together. Foe the price we pay for premium packs better dividers should be provided, at least that is what I would like. I cant even imagine pack hauling in a really filled pack as they provided as stock. I tend to put extra dividers in side by side for better protection, plus an extra layer in the bottom for hard put downs.

    • @EspenHelland
      @EspenHelland 4 дні тому

      Yeah, I’ve found thin dividers to be an issue with other bags. With the backlight you get 2 long thick ones that really holds the structure of it together.

    On your advice, I bought this for a trip to the Galapagos and the Ecuadorian cloud forest with my M43 kit. I really put it through the ringer, stuffing it full of camera gear plus heavier ancillary stuff (total 25 lbs+), and used it in heavy rain on muddy and rocky terrain for 3 weeks. It performed brilliantly as it fit my EM1.2 and OM1 with the 12-100 and 100-400 lenses mounted, with the 8-25 stuffed to the side. The ability to access the bag whilst attached to my torso with the hip belt was a game changer. The materials used for the bag held up very well, including the very robust stitching, and repelled rain for short durations after which the bag dried out quickly. I just wished Mindshift made a streamlined daypack version for my urban global travels.

    Hello Espen, thanks for your review! Quick question, I’m about to buy the this camera (OM-5) - this is goin to be my first camera, I love nature and wildlife, also I like the outdoor photography. What lenses do you recommend me? I also like to photograph birds. So maybe I’ll need two different options. Thanks!

    • @EspenHelland
      @EspenHelland 4 дні тому

      Hi Martin, I always recommend the 300mm f/4 for birds and wildlife as it’s a fantastic lens that’s relatively affordable compared to others of this calibre. The 40-150mm f/2.8 is great. Obviously it depends on your budget and if you want a zoom instead the 100-400mm is a good choice. For an all round outdoor photography lens the 12-100mm f/4 is really good.

    Engelska Hi and thanks for your educational videos! A question: Have an Olympus em1 markIi and 300mm f4.0. Have access to a very good location to photograph house swallows. A challenge I think. Do you think that a more accurate C-AF and following focus only marginally improves the ability to get an accurate focus on these master pilots as they are very fast? IF 1 and middle price and, I think, very marginal blame in this case? If I think wrong, I risk ending up far outside my budget...

    • @EspenHelland
      @EspenHelland 4 дні тому

      It’s a big step up to get the OM-1 or OM-1ii when it comes to AF for birds in flight. I have so many shots that I wouldn’t have got before without the superb bird ai. Saying that the house martins are fast and will be challenging no matter what. I think if you have a far away background and set a focus limiter in camera you should also be able to get it with your current gear. Don’t give up 🙂

    I own the 40-150 f2.8, 300 f4 and the 100-400. Having bought the 150-600 I find the weight is a bit too much for this poor old, arthritic guy to lug around very far, but from a hide it is incredible. Used with either my EM1X or OM1 the results are fantastic, at least as good as the 100-400 and running the 40-150 f2-8 and 300mm f4 lenses a very close second. I'm so pleased I've now got a lens with this kind of reach, it really has given my photography a new life.

    Hi Espen. I always look forward to your videos and Scottish phrases like. That battery needs charged. How about this combo. OM 5 or even EM5 mk3 with the 75-300. With decent light it is a very capable lens.

    This is a PHENOMENAL lens. I would recommend it to anyone to buy it! It is not cheap, but worth every penny! You won't be disappointed!~

    Great video showing how compact MFT cameras are, and how much you can do on-board with an OMDS camera. I’m getting back into photography after a good few years out, so am trialling a new system, and I was blown away by how compact and light the OM-1 with the 12-40 f2.8 PRO (1.014kg) was compared to an A7iv with 24-70 f2.8 GM (1.651kg). Yes, there are pros and cons of each system, but when it comes to having to cart it about, OM-D (and I guess Panasonic) really steal the show.
